March 3, 2008 - Micro Power Named One of Oregon’s Best Large Companies
March 3, 2008 - Micro Power, the global leader in portable power systems for mission-critical equipment, today announced that it was ranked 16 in the Large Company category among 100 top companies according to Oregon Business magazine’s annual 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon survey. The 100 Best list recognizes 50 large companies, defined as those with 250 or more employees and 50 small companies, defined as those with less than 250 employees, for excellence in the following areas: benefits and compensation, work environment; decision-making and trust; performance management; and career development and learning.
"This is the first year Micro Power participated in this survey, and to score as high as we did—particularly in the areas of decision-making and trust—really affirms that our employees have the opportunity to make their voices heard, engage in building our future and are confident in our strategy for long-term success," said Greg Love, president and CEO of Micro Power.
A record number of 25,000 employees filled out confidential surveys to help determine the final rankings. This year’s survey was also more competitive than in years past, with 105 large companies and 207 small companies participating.
"Getting on the 100 Best list is not easy, and those that do make this list are great examples of workplaces that truly stand out," said Oregon Business magazine editor Robin Doussard.Oregon Business has conducted the annual study of best practices for the last 15 years. The survey has two parts — a satisfaction survey completed by employees and a benefits survey submitted by company management. Rankings are derived from scores of both parts of the survey, with the employee survey counting for 5/6 of the total score, and the benefit survey counting for the remaining 1/6 of the total score.
