January 11, 2005 - Micro Power Completes Expansion of National Sales Organization

January 11, 2005 - Micro Power, the global leader in portable power solutions for mission-critical equipment, today announced it has completed the expansion of its direct sales capabilities across the United States. Fueled by unprecedented revenue growth and an expanding customer base, Micro Power has recently opened and staffed new sales centers in New England, Chicago, and Southern California. The new sales centers will complement Micro Power’s existing sales organization, which is based in the Pacific Northwest.

“Our regional sales and technical support capabilities are essential to our national customer base,” said Greg Love, Micro Power’s CEO. “We have selected these locations because of their proximity to medical device and Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) equipment manufacturers,” Love explained. “These new sales centers demonstrate our ongoing commitment to existing and prospective customers in these regions. We staffed these sales centers with individuals of exceptional business and technical talent, and I am confident they will further boost our aggressive revenue growth”

Micro Power’s national expansion has been financed, in part, by two rounds of venture capital investment in May and October 2004, totaling $14 million. Lead investors in those rounds were Sierra Ventures, Menlo Park, Calif., and Palisades Ventures, Los Angeles, Calif.

Micro Power’s focus is on one of the electronics industry’s fastest growing sectors – power solutions for portable, handheld devices. The company’s battery systems power close to 70 percent of all portable Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in the market today. The company also serves the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) data management markets, as well as certain portable sectors within the communication equipment market.
