October 25, 2005 - Micro Power Adds Two Executives to Board of Directors

October 25, 2005 - Micro Power, the global leader in portable power solutions for mission-critical equipment, today named Paul Ross, former President of defense giant ATK (formerly Alliant Techsystems), and Robert B. Hellman, Jr., CEO of private equity investment firm McCown De Leeuw & Co., to its board of directors.

“We are pleased to announce the addition of Paul Ross and Bob Hellman to Micro Power’s board of directors,” said Greg Love, Micro Power’s CEO. “In 2004 we received $14 million in venture capital investment that allowed us to expand our national sales organization and extend product development to enter new markets. Their experience will be invaluable as Micro Power expands into the defense and aerospace markets and we prepare for the next round of growth.”

Ross’ extensive experience in the defense industry at Edina, Minnesota-based ATK is expected to offer Micro Power a strategic advantage as the company moves into defense and aerospace markets. At ATK, Ross oversaw the acquisition of aerospace manufacturer Thiokol, an event viewed by many financial experts as one of the industry’s most successful mergers. Prior to ATK, Ross held a variety of senior management positions with Rockwell International.

Over the past 18 years, Hellman has worked with a wide variety of growth companies in industries facing the challenges of structural change. His experience helping companies grow through both internal expansion and acquisition is expected to add depth to Micro Power’s management focus as the company gears up for a new round of rapid growth.

Micro Power, which holds a strong position in the portable medical systems market – its smart battery packs ship in over 70 percent of all Automated External Defibrillators on the market today – also plays in the RFID and Automatic Inventory Data Collection (AIDC) markets. Earlier this month, the company announced design wins with aerospace systems manufacturer Orbital Sciences Corp. (OSC). The Dulles, VA. -based Orbital also named Micro Power as a winner of its “Component Supplier Award” for smart battery technology used in several of the company’s missile systems.
